Resica Fall Summer Camp - Day 4
Good Evening from Resica Falls!
As I sit here and type this email it is currently raining and has been for the last few hours. Im not one to get bummed by the rain, its a lovely sound to fall asleep to, but the thunder and lightning that came with this storm put a damper on the evening activities. Im not sure our scouts minded much, as a couple of them have been asleep for the last 2 hours. To say they had a long day is an understatement. They started bright and early this morning when they had to catch the shuttle to be whisked away to the Delaware River. Once there they embarked on a canoe trip. This probably would have been a trivial trip for our adventurous scouts, but as with this evening, the rain started and they were drenched. They took shelter under some trees during the worst of it. Two of our scouts managed to capsize their canoe, so they were soaked from head to toe anyway. They got back to camp around lunch time and spent their siesta napping. I have to assume afternoon classes went smoothly, they didnt come back to camp until it was nearly dinner time. Sadly thats where the evening ended. We hunkered down under our pavilion for a while and the scouts eventually retreated to their respective tents. Mr Farris and I made a good go of sitting and watching the rain, but at some point the rhythmic pater of rain on the roof lulls one to be ready for bed. So here we are on our last night in camp, rained in. All is well, the closing ceremonies were planned for tomorrow anyway, so we wont miss out on that. From what I hear the scouts will be spending their morning doing action archery, im not sure what that is, but im sure they will be more than happy to tell you all about tomorrow evening!
